Training and Education
Dr. Denise Renye is a licensed clinical psychologist (in the states of California and Colorado). She has been a certified sexologist for almost 20 years after receiving her Master degree in Human Sexuality. After training and studying various forms of body movement in different cultures and countries, Dr. Renye became a certified yoga therapist. She weaves the somatic seamlessly throughout the work. While yogic philosophy and certain experimenters and characters in psychology, like Marion Milner and Wilfred Bion and William James and Marion Woodman, lend themselves to the mystical and spiritual aspects of life, Dr. Renye sought certification as a psychedelic assisted therapist and integrationist. She currently practices using psychoeducation regarding ‘set and setting’, understanding the overlap between sexuality and psychedelic science and therapy, and providing space for deep psychedelic integration offered both individually and in group settings. Denise previously ran a consultation company offering executive coaching, leadership development, meeting facilitation with a focus on bridging the communication gap between site workers and office workers.
Dr. Denise was in the first cohort to graduate from the Center for Psychedelic Therapies and Research (CPTR) at CIIS and provides psychedelic integration individually and in group settings, focusing on somatics and sexuality. She is certified as a psychedelic assisted therapist with MDMA through the Multidisciplinary Association of Psychedelic Science (MAPS). She has studied embodied spiritual practices nationally and internationally through research and experiential learning and has conducted and published research on embodied psycho-spirituality. Integrating the whole person, soma and psyche, is integral in her approach to the work she does.
She is highly trained in many diverse modalities and has worked with folx from all walks of life, conducting therapy, coaching, consultation and ritual. This private practice has evolved over decades of devotion to various forms of study including dance/dance therapy, yoga/yoga therapy, somatic and energy psychology modalities, psychoanalysis, Jungian therapy, EMDR, sex therapy. Dr. Denise has worked serving the inner city populations offering home visits through’ Early Intervention for infants and families’ programs, headstarts and Infant-Parent programs. She has worked with the housing insecure, trauma centers and in substance/process addiction intervention facilities and rehabilitation centers. She has worked in domestic violence shelters and rape crisis counseling and court advocacy centers.
Dr. Denise has created a program making services available to more people from all socio-economic classes to access insight-oriented depth therapy and coaching (Blue Collar Wellness Initiative Program).
